Try one conversation before changing everything
Read the greeting and reply with a situation rather than a list of instructions. For example: 'The bookshop is closing, but I have one last question about the note you found.' Keep the same scene for a few exchanges so you can judge the character's voice.
If you want a different pace, change one setting at a time. A short text exchange and a descriptive story ask for different kinds of replies.

Look at the conversation itself: does the character respond to your latest action, leave room for your reply and maintain the personality you chose? For images, compare the result with your prompt rather than a promotional example.
Before paying, check the allowance, selected model and credit price for the feature you actually plan to use. A review of text chat does not tell you what a video generation will cost.
